Arrest made after FedEx sends drug to wrong place

BALTIMORE (AP) — FedEx prides itself on reliability. But a mistaken delivery tipped off police to a 200-pound shipment of marijuana that someone tried to send from Pembroke Pines, Florida to Baltimore via the shipping company.
Police tell The (Baltimore) Sun they learned about the shipment when it was delivered Tuesday to the wrong resident.
Authorities posed as FedEx employees and arrested the shipment’s intended recipient, 30-year-old Richard Gwatidzo.
Officials say he was charged Thursday with possession of a large quantity of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute along with other drug related charges.
Police say they also seized eight other FedEx boxes with nearly 400 pounds of the drug.
Authorities are trying to determine the sender’s identity.

Fed Ex, UPS , DHL, USPS and small private courier.
DEA and local law enforcement have sniffers, dogs and machines, for bad stuff being shipped, usually at airports were the packages go through. The bad guys know that some always gets through and they ship. The raw product cost is cheap.
I have made or have been on teams that have made controlled deliveries from all of those shippers. None anywhere near that large. More than half of the time the receiver is a dupe.
Hundreds of pound everyday are unknowingly delevered everyday by FedEX, and all other delivery services including thew Post Office. LOL
Yikes!! Not the smart ones!! Those dogs do walkthroughs randomly. I saw a man get sentences 15 years for a murder and they tacked on 25 to life for shipping drugs via the U.S. Government. That is serious stuff there!!
No, because America is turning into a socialist society. Americans are losing more freedoms every day as our country is quickly becoming a socialist society. We are now watched wherever we go; wire tapped at random and without warrant; can’t even purchase low dose codeine medications or some decongestants without a prescription. America is the most over-regulated so called “free society” in the world, incarcerating the highest number of its citizens, most for victimless crimes.
We need to get rid of Democrat/Republican parties and vote in Libertarians if we as a society ever wish to restore the freedoms our forefathers fought for. But that is unlikely to happen until it is too late because the vast majority of Americans easily succumb to government influenced media scare tactics; designed to sacrifice freedom for so called “security”.
To paraphrase Benjamin Franklin-one of our founding fathers: “Anyone willing to compromise freedom for security is deserving of neither”.
