Attention: MARIJUANA USERS!! HELP!!?

I’m a college student and I am doing a research paper on the argument over the legalization of marijuana. I don’t use it, but I need the perspectives, information, and opinions of those that do. So I figured I would go to yahoo answers for help.

If you would take a moment of your time, please answer my survey. You can answer the questions simply, but I would prefer if you would expand as much as possible on your answers. I’m looking for in depth peeks into marijuana advocates lives.

At the end of the survey, there is a little section called “comments”. Feel free to add information you didn’t answer in the survey describing your point of view on the “issue”, Pros and Cons, whatever you want!

If you do not want to post the survey on the answers board, you can send me your answers in a message. Please arrange neatly.

Also, no rudeness please. I don’t want to hear about how marijuana is evil or anything like that. I DON’T USE IT! I’m researching, and I don’t need to be flamed.
If you are offended at the questions and don’t want to answer them, please just skip the survey.

Thanks to all that decide to help me out.

Best Temperature For Volcano Vaporizer

The most common question medicinla marijuana users have about using a volcano vaporizer is what is the best temperature. Having spent the last several years studying the issue of Volcano Vaporizer temperatures here’s some of my brief findings

Different marijuana strains boil at different temperatures.

Determining the best temperature for your medicine in a Volcano Vaporizer isn’t that difficult. You should see a light mist that gradually grows denser with each filling. Generally speaking the first bag is the lightest. The middle bags, most often, two, three and sometimes four are the best.

Sativa marijuana strains which are great at motivating people who are suffering from depression with their energetic uplifting marijuana high boil or vaporizer at much lower temperature than indica marijuana types.

Sativa weed strains such as Haze, Arjan Haze, Skunk, and Power Plant are some examples of marijuana strains that vaporize at low temperature.

Through numerous tests on different types of marijuana (pure Sativa 80%) my preferred temperature for sativa marijuana in a Volcano Vaporizer is 396F.

Sativa cannabis strains boil at lower temperatures because their trichomes are much more delicate than their indica counterparts.

Indica marijuana strains, which are amazing cannabis strains for people who suffer consistent pain (known oddly enough as chronic) require a higher Volcano Vaporizer temperature to boil a perfect bag.

The best temperature for indica marijuana types is 409F.

A Digital Volcano Vaporizer makes playing with different temperatures fun and exciting.

A marijuana vaporizer is the best method to use medicnal marijuana. They eliminate almost all the harmful side effects associated with medicinla marijuana.

Marijuana Should be Legalized in the United States

Despite all of the laws, regulations, and punishments the United States to keep its citizens from using marijuana, America has over 83 million marijuana users. This ranks the U.S. at 9th highest rate of marijuana use in the world. Yes, this even beats the Netherlands, where marijuana is virtually legal. What does this mean? If prohibiting marijuana was intended to keep marijuana use under control, then it means that prohibition is a complete failure. Making marijuana illegal did not do what it was intended to do, which is to prevent people from consuming it. On top of this, prohibition is responsible for the growth of the dangerous marijuana substitute, “K2″. It can also be blamed for marijuana’s status as a gateway drug, not to mention a loss of opportunity for the government to obtain billions of dollars worth of taxes. The prohibition of marijuana is based off of misconceptions the government had about marijuana almost 100 years ago. All of these have been proven wrong, and the laws should reflect that today.  Marijuana should be taxed, regulated, and legalized for those 21 or older in the United States.

You have probably heard of “K2″ or “Spice” recently. It is all over the news, or maybe you’ve seen it in person being sold at the local gas station. What “K2″ is, is a mix of herbs sprayed with a dangerous chemical ten times stronger than marijuana. It is sold as incense, and because it is not recommended to be used as a drug, it is legal. It is being sold at a relatively cheap price all over the country, and feels just like marijuana, only stronger. This drug is responsible for many hospitalizations, accidents, and even overdoses resulting in death. Teens assume that because this drug is legal, it must be safe. This is far from the truth. The chemicals in the herbal mixture have never been tested on, but the hundreds of hospitalizations say the chemicals are probably very bad for you. If marijuana was legal, nobody would have to worry about any of this. There wouldn’t be any scientists attempting to make mind altering chemicals like this if marijuana was legal. They would not have to sell a substitute that can actually kill you if the real thing was legal. Policy makers have strictly taken marijuana, which never killed anyone, out of the market. Now they are allowing a drug that has been linked to many hospitalizations into the market. If marijuana was legalized today, the young adults that were using K2 fearing legal consequences will begin to smoke marijuana instead. Remember, marijuana is a lot safer than K2.

Teenagers who try or use marijuana are much more likely to use cocaine and heroin. This is a fact.  The only reason for this, however, is because it is illegal. Because marijuana is illegal, teens must go to a drug dealer to get it. It is the drug dealer that will introduce them to other, harder drugs. If marijuana was legalized, teens will go to a gas station or a smoke shop to get marijuana. This will get a lot of teens and young adults away from the black market. One, because they won’t need to buy weed from a drug dealer, and two because there will be a substantial decline in drug dealers all together. Yes marijuana is illegal, but that doesn’t stop 83 million people from using it. This is 83 million people that can be smoking things that they don’t intend to. Marijuana from the black market can be laced with PCP, cocaine, and even heroin. If marijuana was legal, that risk will be eliminated. Now for some reasons to legalize marijuana that the government will care about.

Legalizing marijuana will make the United States billions of dollars. According to Jeffrey Miron, an economics professor from Harvard University, the government could save about 7.7 billions of dollars a year if marijuana was legalized. This is because they would not spend money on prosecuting those who break marijuana laws. When marijuana is taxed, it could bring in another 6.2 billion dollars. Almost 14 billion dollars could be made. This money could go towards anti drug organizations. The legalization could also help the economy in other ways. Marijuana shops or bars could generate income, and create jobs. An entire marijuana industry could prosper and help the economy. For real, this would be one popular industry.

Saying that marijuana should be legalized is a totally separate thing than saying that it is safe. Marijuana is not safe, but keeping it illegal is obviously not getting that message out. A drug does not have to be safe to be legalized. Take a look at alcohol and tobacco. What legalization will do however is ensure marijuana does not get any more dangerous.  It will inform people what they are ingesting. It will tell people how strong the stuff is that they are smoking. It will provide warnings to maximize the safety of the user. This regulating activity can never be accomplished if marijuana remains illegal. Illegal marijuana is like illegal fast food. There are too many people that engage in the activity for it to remain illegal effectively. Prohibition has obviously backfired on so many levels. If marijuana is not legalized any time soon, things will just get worse. There will be more harmful substitutes, more people introduced to other drugs, and even more drug dealers. It is not the 1920s anymore, let’s legalize marijuana!

Teens & Today’s Marijuana

There is a reason marijuana is known as “the gateway drug”. Easily accessible and considered by many adults to be relatively harmless, many teenagers who find they like the high marijuana provides will move on to other, even more serious drugs.

Many who think of marijuana as a “harmless” drug, do so because when they think of the drug, they are thinking of the marijuana they may have smoked back in the 60′s, 70′s or 80′s. However, selective breeding and sophisticated growing techniques over the past twenty years, including hydroponics and special lighting systems means today’s marijuana is much different today.

The active ingredient in marijuana is Delta-9- tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC.This is the chemical that gives marijuana users their high.

In the 1960′s marijuana contained about 1% THC. In the 1970′s it was up to 4%.Today’s marijuana contains at least 10% THC, if not more. That means most of the marijuana being smoked by teens today is at least ten times more potent than what their parents may have smoked when they were teenagers.

Few teenagers will put themselves in the position of being around their parents when they are high. However, there are other indicators of a teen smoking pot. Parents who suspect their teenager is using marijuana should keep their eyes open for these indicators.

Cigarettes are also a good indication of teenage marijuana use. Many teens begin cigarette smoking to hide the smell of marijuana smoke, or to explain the presence of matches or lighters in their possession.

Legalize Marijuana debate

www.chemicalmuse.com Arrests for marijuana possession disproportionately affect blacks and Hispanics and reinforce the perception that law enforcement is biased and prejudiced against minorities. African-Americans account for approximately 13% of the population of the United States and about 13.5% of annual marijuana users, however, blacks also account for 26% of all marijuana arrests. Recent studies have demonstrated that blacks and Hispanics account for the majority of marijuana possession arrests in New York City, primarily for smoking marijuana in public view. Law enforcement has failed to demonstrate that marijuana laws can be enforced fairly without regard to race; far too often minorities are arrested for marijuana use while white/non-Hispanic Americans face a much lower risk of arrest. Legalized marijuana would reduce the flow of money from the American economy to international criminal gangs. Marijuana is not a lethal drug and is safer than alcohol. What do you think about the legal Herbal Incense known as Spice, K2, ect…?

Here is an interesting article I found feel free to read it, and give me your opinions.

Don’t criminalize ‘K2,’ regulate it

The recent emergence in the United States of “K2,” sometimes called synthetic marijuana, is testing lawmakers to see if they’ve been paying attention to the failures of marijuana prohibition and will respond to K2 with enlightened policy.

The first stories on K2, or “Spice,” broke out with headlines labeling the mixture of herbs and spices, which are treated with a synthetic compound, as “fake pot.” K2 was virtually unknown until the media hyped up its presence at tobacco and novelty shops.

Under U.S. law, and in all 50 states, the herbal product is legal, and also unregulated. People who have tried K2 often report psychoactive effects that are comparable to marijuana, but notably less pleasurable.

When lawmakers consider regulating K2, they should keep in mind that the government has waged a futile war against marijuana and people who use the drug for decades.

For another opinion, click here

Elected officials have burned through billions of taxpayer dollars chasing marijuana sellers, bagging marijuana plants and jailing marijuana users.

Government-funded media campaigns have sought to scare children and adults away from marijuana with grossly exaggerated claims that using the drug will lead to death and mayhem.

Despite all of these efforts, the public has largely dismissed the myths and hysteria around marijuana and recognized that the drug has important medicinal benefits. Moreover, public opinion is leaning in favor of a regulated and taxed market for marijuana.

Researchers who have tested K2 identified synthetic chemicals that are thought to mimic the psychoactive component in marijuana. These chemicals are thought to act on the cannabinoid receptors in the brain much the way that THC — the principal psychoactive component in marijuana — operates.

What’s notable about these synthetic chemicals is that very little is known about them, and this legal alternative designed to deliver an experience like marijuana may actually carry more risk. Thus we have a supreme irony of drug prohibition: The government continues to criminalize marijuana — a drug with established medical value that has undergone exhaustive study — and entrepreneurs introduce a legal alternative to marijuana with ingredients scientists know little about.

Given this potential for harm, and the growing volume of sensational media portrayals of K2, some lawmakers have ignored the lessons learned from marijuana prohibition and moved to criminalize possession and sales of K2.

Lawmakers in Kansas, Kentucky and Missouri have already written legislation to ban the herbal mix. It seems that a reporter need only write an article about an obscure bag of twigs to spur a lawmaker to criminalize more chemicals and the people who use them.

Time and time again, elected officials have dropped the ball when it comes to regulating drugs. Lawmakers have preferred to lazily pass the responsibility of controlling a drug on to law enforcement and the criminal justice system.

The problem is, we know from marijuana prohibition that law enforcement has no control over the drug market and the criminals who run it. Criminalizing K2 will only worsen the devastating harm our society already suffers under drug prohibition. Rather than regulation of the supply and ingredients of K2, criminalization leaves the question of what goes into the product up to drug dealers.

Rather than passing regulations that bar K2 sales to minors, criminalizing K2 will essentially give dealers the green light to sell the product to whomever they please.

By choosing to ban K2 outright, lawmakers will also forfeit badly needed state revenue from K2 sales and instead commit millions of taxpayer dollars to investigate, prosecute and jail K2 users. Plus, researchers point out that hundreds of other known synthetic chemicals will easily reach store shelves once K2 is banned.

The sensible legislative response to K2 is to create effective regulatory controls on sale and possession. California and Maine have passed model legislation that formally regulates and taxes adult sales of salvia divinorium — another product with psychoactive properties — and criminalizes salvia sales to minors.

Lawmakers should deliver a knockout to prohibition and pass laws that will actually regulate and control K2.

New Drug for Drug Treatment Centers to Watch Out For

There is a new product on the drug market – fake marijuana. The substance mimics the drug’s effects on the brain and is simple to purchase. It is becoming a challenge for law enforcement in a few states. Known as K2 or “Spice,” “Genie” and “Zohai”, the product is sold in head shops as incense. It is made in China and Korea and is a combination of herbs and spices sprayed with a synthetic mixture chemically similar to THC, the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana.

Drug treatment centers that have been helping those individuals with marijuana addictions are now seeing more individuals with K2 addiction because of its similarities to marijuana. Unfortunately it is harder to diagnose also because of this fact.

K2 is banned in most of Europe, but since its main ingredients are not regulated in the United States, states like Missouri and Kansas are now thinking about new legislation. The product is becoming popular with high school students. It costs between $20 and $50 for three grams, which is close to the cost of marijuana. It is more attractive to people because it is legal and cannot be detected in drug tests.

Dr. John Huffman, a chemistry professor at Clemson University, was researching the effects of cannabinoids on the brain when his efforts resulted in a 1995 paper that published the method and ingredients for the mixture. That “secret” recipe found its way to marijuana users, who then reproduced Huffman’s work and began spraying it onto dried flowers, herbs and tobacco.

“People who use it are idiots,” said Huffman.

A proposed bill in Missouri would make possession of K2 a felony, punishable by up to seven years in jail. In Kansas, a similar proposed bill would make possession a misdemeanor with up to a year in jail and a $2,500 fine.

In the rural southern Missouri city of West Plains, K2 is sold in head shops just blocks from the high school. A foiled attempt by teenagers to steal K2 from the store alerted police to the problem.

“A 10-year-old child could walk into a head ship and buy it,” said West Plains Detective Shawn Rhoads. “It’s not a tobacco; it’s not regulated by anything. It would be like sending my 10-year-old son into Wal-Mart to buy potpourri.”

The military has banned possession of K2 and the federal Drug Enforcement Administration has classified the substance as a “drug or chemical of concern.”

Not all drug treatment centers across the US are taking the time to learn about this new ‘fake’ drug. A drug is a drug regardless of its origins. The fact that the younger crowd can get their hands on it so easily should raise red flags for parents everywhere. And if they find that their son or daughter has got their hands on K2 then the parents will have to do their homework if they feel that drug treatment centers will become a necessity.

Herbal Vaporizer Benefits

Herbal Vaporizer Benefits

More of the world is starting to realize the benefits of using marijuana.  Despite these benefits, one of the remaining problems that exist with traditional usage methods is the smoke.  Using a marijuana vaporizer, however, can reduce or eliminate these problems and provide additional benefits.

Why Weed Vaporizers are the Better Option

As you already know, marijuana is commonly used by smoking.  Unfortunately, this can cause some negative effects that have nothing to do with the herb itself.  The smoke from a marijuana cigarette is not that much different than from tobacco cigarettes.  In fact, it contains some of the same carcinogens which are created as a result of the combustion that ignites the cigarette.

Although some of these carcinogens have been linked to cases of lung cancers among tobacco smokers, no studies have shown similar effects in marijuana users.  However, individuals who use regularly are at higher risk of respiratory disease, bronchitis, and respiratory infection and irritation.

Recent lab studies have found that using a cannabis vaporizer can effectively eliminate many of these problems because the smoke is gone.  The studies have shown, too, that using these herbal vaporizers are good ways of isolating the cannabinoids.

How Cannabis Vaporizers Work

Weed vaporizers heat the temperature of the herbs, including marijuana and savia, to the right warmth so the active ingredients will be released.  These ingredients are turned into a thin mist or vapor that is collected in a special tube attached to the herb vaporizer.  You don’t have to use the vapor right away.  Instead it will be available whenever you need it.

Because you only consume the vapor in the tube, you won’t have to worry about inhaling the smoke that can cause health problems.

Other Benefits of Using Herbal Vaporizers

Using herbal vaporizers will quite clearly save your lungs from damage.  This is an important benefit if you’re using marijuana for medicinal purposes.  You won’t have to worry about all of that smoke irritation, plus you’ll have the marijuana ready to use whenever you need to use it.  That makes the vaporizers more convenient than traditional smoking.

However, those are just a few of the benefits.

One of the best benefits is that you’ll have access to 95% pure active ingredients in these vapors.  That means you’ll have a more refined experience than you would when smoking marijuana or other herbs.

As mentioned above, you’ll also have access to a finished product that is 95% smoke and carcinogen free.  That means you’ll have a much reduced risk of lung problems as a result of using marijuana, regardless of your frequency.

If you want to keep your usage fairly discrete, using a weed vaporize has another important advantage: it’s odorless.  That means you can use it almost anywhere without having the tell-tale smell of marijuana smoke alerting everyone around you to what you are doing.

Finally, you’ll get more for your money.  Because you will be reducing the marijuana to its purest chemicals, you won’t need to use as much to generate the desired result.  Generally, the cannabis vaporizer is about 30% more efficient than smoking.
