Should the United States government legalize & control recreational drugs?

If alcohol is legalized, why not marijuana and cocaine? Not advocating it, but it seems to me we could put our law enforcements’ time to better use.

As more states move toward allowing medical marijuana use, is federal law changes next?

Legalizing marijuana entirely would be the best change. There are known medical usages, such as restoring appetite to chemo patients and lowering eye pressure; and marijuana is better than alcohol in terms of violence. While the stoned person is mellowed out, the mean drunk is picking fights and killing people. It’s time to stop discriminating against this mild intoxicant.

States’ Rights = Racism?

I’m so sick of hearing this. How many things can you name that were once supported primarily by racists? How about: abortion, religion, the war on drugs? Is everything that was ever supported by a racist person inherently racist itself?

Is this just a really clever way of avoiding real debate?

What about the inherently racist federal laws like Coke vs Crack and using HUD to marginalize minorities? Are medical marijuana advocates in California all racist because they want their state to have power to regulate the law?

Does anyone else realize the absurdity/emptiness of the accusation?
I understand that Mike O, but how does it justify the accusation today, when the federal government is the major perpetrator of racist law?
Anyone out there who can defend this logic?

What states will follow California after marijuana is legalized?

Anybody know what the odds of that happening would be?

If California legalizes marijuana, how will it effect other states?

Especially Oregon, Nevada and Arizona.

Do you think the other states will need to react?

What is the specific law which states that marijuana is illegal and where can I find it online?

In a debate over states’ rights, the opposer adamantly states that the legality of marijuana is a state issue, and not a federal one. I know this to be false because if it was a state issue, there would be no DEA, californians would not be arrested by federal authorities for its medical use, as well as common sense. However, I can not back this up without the exact clause which states this.

Why is marijuana illegal in the United States?

-nobody wants to make it legal to drive & toke
-nobody advocates kids smoking reefer
-remember why alcohol prohibition was overturned
-think about how much federal money would be saved if marijuana offenders weren’t jailed
-and think about how much federal money would be made if marijuana was sold with a ‘sin tax’, like alcohol and tobacco, plus the creation of many more jobs.

—some think it is illegal because it BURNS BRAIN CELLS or causes insanity. (this is fear propaganda, look up results… less damage than tobacco or alcohol & only minimally addictive in heavy users)

—some people think it is because the government can’t TAX weed.
1937 Marihuana Tax Act, (levied a tax equaling roughly one dollar on anyone who dealt commercially in cannabis, hemp or marijuana. a $2000 and five years’ imprisonment was given for anyone dealing weed without a Tax Stamp. No tax stamps were issued.)
STEVE.. its not tax!
Convention on Psychotropic Substances in the late 60′s didn’t include wacky weed
United Nations Convention Against Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances in 1988:
T]he policy of prohibiting drugs, based on the UN Conventions of 1961, 1971 and 1988, is the true cause of the increasing damage that the production of, trafficking in, and sale and use of illegal substances are inflicting on whole sectors of society, on the economy and on public institutions, eroding the health, freedom and life of individuals.

(the united states ignored that and decided to keep throwing money at the drug problem, including marijuana)

Is a California 215 valid in other medical marijuana states?

I got my 215 (Medical Marijuana Card) in California a while back and I was wondering if it would be valid in other states (Oregon) that allow medical marijuana?

Thanks in advance and happy toking. =)

Glenn Beck on States Sovereignty. Stoners, Support This!!

Its actually up past 31 states. Weed smokers, support this because it will help to keep federal govt power in check and it will offer protection to marijuana dispensaries. This is the only issue that may be more important than marijuana law because this would untie the hands of states and let them make said laws without fear. 10th Amendment “The powers not delegated to the United States by the constitution, nor prohibited by it 6 to the states, are reserved to the states, respectively, or to the people;” Section 4 of Article IV of the Constitution “The United States shall guarantee to every state in this union a republican form of government,”
