Legally you CANNOT have it, as that is violation of federal law. A cop found in possession of marijuana, by knowing it is present and having access to it, would be fired from every department in the country.

So anyways… The federal government still recognizes marijuana as being illegal in all forms… so maybe he does have a point, that it may possibly jeopardize his career as a police officer because of conflict of interest…
I could see how he would not want to be around it… and if for some reason he somehow managed to get it in his sytem, and was drug tested, he would lose his job…

Actually it’s an interesting gray area in the law. As far as the state of California is concerned, you have every right to use pot for your medical condition. It’s still illegal on a federal level but President Obama has announced he won’t prosecute medical marijuana users in states that allow it (13 or 14 states now!)
Your BF’s police department probably has a rule against having pot in the house, but that rule might not withstand a court challenge. It’s like vicodin or oxycontin or any other drug that can be prescribed but also abused. Cops are subject to rules different from the rest of us (and also they are immune to certain laws the rest of us have to follow).
