Do you think Arizona’s new illegal immigration control law is racist?
After an extensive investigation, U.S. Attorney José Angel Moreno announced the indictment of fifty-eight alleged members of a Mexican drug distributing organization today.
The group transported drugs from border crossings to hubs within Texas, Georgia, Ohio, Illinois and North Carolina. They then distributed drugs to a multitude of points throughout the U.S. Contraband also included cash, which they laundered through the acquisition of purchased real estate property mainly in Hidalgo County, Texas.
A multi-agency initiative, “Project Deliverance,” targeted the transportation infrastructure for Mexican drug trafficking along the Southwest border. The project comprised the “Southern District of Texas Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces,” and was a long-term effort, which ended in significant success.
U.S. Attorney Moreno said of the indictments, “Every day, federal, state and local law enforcement officers, at our borders and beyond, do battle against the illegal drug trade.” Moreno continued, “Project Deliverance is the latest engagement in our ongoing struggle to confront and defeat the Mexican cartels. These arrests, seizures and prospective forfeitures further our goal to dismantle and disrupt their operations and hold them accountable.”
During the investigation and subsequent raids, authorities seized nearly 600 kilograms of cocaine and 31,000 pounds of marijuana. Enforcement agents also confiscated close to $5 million in alleged drug money and 70 real estate lots in Hidalgo County.
During police enforcement actions yesterday, officials further seized an additional $1 million, four vehicles and five bank accounts.
The dirty dealings of this group does not expose the countless killings, human trafficking and torture associated with such a border crime business.
Here we go again, possibly a small army of people will be incarcerated in our prison system—which, by the way, we taxpayers have to pay for. Even worse, Border States pay dearly in not only loss of money, but loss of lives, liberty and peace of mind.

No, i don’t think its racist. Its just what they needed to do, take control. The fed gov wasn’t gonna do anything so why can’t the state decide whats best for it. If anyone thinks its racist its because they’re loyal to their native country or are ignorant in the reason behind it. I’m of a different race..

Almost all of the economic problems in Arizona is from illegal immigrants.I say, mine the border and let Mexico know that they need to clean up their own country and not import their corruption to America.

Good comment. I believe, often, people do a knee jerk reaction to issues they have not thought out, and as a result take a position that simply makes no sense. At the very root is the fact that its AGAINST the Law to enter ILLEGALLY. And as you have listed, there are so many ramifications of their ILLEGAL actions. I congratulate Arizona for doing what the Federal Government ( politicians ) won’t do. I sincerely hope additional states follow suit. As I have mentioned before, this country was built by Legal Immigration. There is NO PROBLEM with people who come to OUR country LEGALLY.

the heavy toll we pay is enough to do something about it….and arizona is being the first in line to do something besides keep paying out the nose for these illegals.

Arizona SB 1070 is a racist Law because it Racially Profiles Mexican Americans. That is unconstituional, Un American, and violiation of civil right of American citizens.

Arizona 1070 article 8 section E state “A law enforcement officer without a WARRANT, may arrest a person if the office has PROBABLE CAUSE to believe that the person has committee any public offense that makes the person removable from the United States.
In Arizona an illegal alien is going to look, Mexican. In Arizona some Americans are going to look, Mexican. In Arizona, Police will Racially Profile Mexican Americans because they look like illegal aliens. This is a violation of our civil rights.

IT IS NOT RACIST.
Arizona’s immigration law is not only Racist unconstitutional. Racial profiling is challenged by the Fourth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution which guarantees the right to be safe from unreasonable search and seizure without probable cause and the Fourteenth Amendment which requires that all citizens be treated equally. Why should Mexican Americans who’s family’s have been here for generations and some family’s have been in this country before it was a part of the united states be in fear of racial profiling or harassment?No one should be racially profiled. This law give police authority to violate ALL our civil rights. You can’t determine if someone is Illegal by how they dress or speak.
Of course it’s not! Did anyone who is against the bill actually read it? The police cannot pull someone over just for their color of skin. They would have had to commit a traffic offense in order to be pulled over, and if I remember correctly, all people of colors and cultures are pulled over for traffic offenses. If there was physically a way to do it I’d give Arizona a great big hug for being the state brave enough to make a change in the right direction! Please, oh please, let California be next!
