Medical Personal With Respiratory Experience?

Medical Personal With Respiratory Experience?

Hi, I’m 19 years old, and have a couple questions.

Number one, I have never in my life had a hard time taking deep breaths as I have been recently.

Well, to my problem. A couple days ago, I started noticing a problem. I could breath perfectly fine as long as it’s normal breathing. Like no deep breaths or anything extreme like that. Well, I went to take a deep breath and I could do it but barely. I felt a pain in my chest. But ok, moved on and I felt fine a couple days later. Well, two nights ago, I was @ a car show which races went on and there was lots of smoke to be inhaled. Smoke from car tires, exhaust smoke, people smoking cigarettes and marijuana (pretty freaky people there, haha but maybe it was just cigarettes), fog steam, and a lot of stuff like that was in the air. I was around it for over five hours and I’m not sure if that took it’s effect on me.

So yesterday once I got home, I had a really hard time taking deep breaths. I couldn’t do it. Not that it hurt… but I felt restricted when taking a deep breath. Not breathing normally.

Fell asleep and then when I woke up and throughout the day, I felt a lot better than what I did. Meaning, I still have problems taking that deep breath but I can actually do it now like 50%. Half the times I try, I can. Half the times, I can’t. And when I can, there is a lil’ pain but not bad at all.

I have read and people said I may have asthma but I don’t think I do. Reason being: There is no coughing, I can breathe fine and I haven’t had this problem. Just recently and excessively after being around all that smoke.

I have never smoked in my life and I am going to school for Firefighting so I would hate to have something like this bring me down. I have worked pretty hard and would like nothing more to be on the Fire Department within some point in my life.

Well anyway, it seems to get better everyday but what do you think this is and what do I do? I do get my exercise in but not as much as I have been. I’m going to start picking it up here soon.

Do you think if I just took some medications (recommend anything?), exercised and cleaned up my diet a lil’ bit (eat pretty healthy but could be better), it’ll clear it up and I’ll be back to normal again? This has recently happened. Never before in my life and noone in my family has had it either.

But one thing I’ll explain: Way back over 10 years ago, I believe I suffered from bronchitis or something like that. I was coughing a lot and had the symptons for a couple weeks but I was little and once that cleared up, I’ve never felt better. I love playing sports (football, baseball, basketball) and doing anything exciting such as snowboarding, wakeboarding, surfing, hiking and whatever else comes up. Every activity I have done never resulted in any painful endings. Of course I breathed heavier than usually… but I pushed myself pretty hard it time. But definitely not far enough to wear I can’t continue.

I just can’t take a deep breath or if I can, it hurts a lil’ that has only happened for the past couple of days. What can I do? Thanks for reading all of this if you did. Look forward to hearing from you all.

Could I go pick up a liquid medication at my local pharmacy or anything you could recommend or what? Thank you.
Ughh damn I wish I didn’t hear your answers although it’s the best thing to do. I would hate if this brought me down in anyway since in a couple months, I would have had my associates degree in fire science. I have always felt fine doing exercise with them but this problem popped up recently. My mom and others seem to think it may just be allergies but I’m going to make an appointment with my doctor and see what’s going on. That makes me upset, hopefully things will go well.
