Are the people of California such hippies and stoners that they need to smoke pot during work breaks?
Voters will have a chance in November to decide whether to legalize marijuana for recreational purposes for adults over 21 but the political debate over the controversial issue has been heating up for quite some time. The latest argument against the ballot measure is that given the legal freedom to smoke pot, people will be high at work.
The California Chamber of Commerce on Thursday released a legal analysis that claims Proposition 19 would lead to more workplace accidents by forcing employers to let workers smoke pot on the job.
It would be great if they just smoked pot during work breaks.
Actually if you look at the countries that legalized it productivity went UP while crime went DOWN…Confusing ain’t it?

that idea is ridiculous no employer wants an employee high om the job3 just because it may be legal does not mean its wanted in the workplace and if that ocurs then all someone has to do is report it since it weed would still be against federal law

I had better see Obama Challenge this in Court using the same approach as the one he used for AZ immigration law. After all if a State cannot set Immigration policy for its own state it sure as heck cannot Drug policy

The ” Make Pot Legal” movement is being led by 20 somethings who have no life and politicians who are looking for a cheap way out of the economic mess they have played a major role in creating. It is a narcotic, and should remain illegal.
I didn’t know they still worked out there. I thought only Mexicans work in California and the rest were either on welfare, growing weed, or humiliating themselves on reality TV shows for money.
I thought the hippys and the stoners didn’t have jobs to hold down.
Employers don’t have to allow workers to smoke pot while they are on the job. That’s like saying they have to be allowed to work. Most businesses will fire you if you are caught under the influence drugs while you are working LEGAL or ILLEGAL.
I don’t support the legalization of pot for numerous reasons. There are a TON of misconceptions about it and a TON of false knowledge. But the people are addicts and will justify their addictions anyway they can.
If the legalize pot it will also increase traffic accidents. It slows down your reaction time and impairs your judgment. It does also effect balance and I would bet MONEY more people will fall asleep at the wheel.
I seriously doubt it’s going to pass. I know a lot of people who are going to vote no on it. The only reason they don’t know about it is because they aren’t trying to campaign in promotion of it.
They cannot legally force employers to allow employees to smoke on the job. If that’s the case, California’s economy will tank even worse when anti-stoner employers move elsewhere.
Personally my only fight is to legalize it for real medical use. I fight now so that when i’m 80, I can use it without the crappy government playing with my life and telling me what I can and can’t take for the pain. Not to mention the evil way they set up what you have to buy, what you have to sigh up for, not dealing with medicine costs for the fixed income, …….etc, etc, etc.
Too many moron’s don’t bother to see for real what Government has done against the people of this country. They’ve used politics, regulation, laws, restrictions and every tool they have to manipulate the citizen into giving them only the options they “allow”.
Sure, i see too many young stoners that have no redeemable qualities and want to seemingly spend 24 hours of thier life stoned. But those are also the selfish little bastards that seem to have no problem allowing the government to tax it. Grown ups pay enough taxes, F**K the government for wanting to tax every aspect of our lives. There should be something we the people should have without governments interference.

Go ahead, try to scare people with your information. It won’t be any different than someone who has a three martini lunch and goes to work. Isn’t that as big an issue? Certainly lots of people have problems with that.
I wouldn’t trust the Chamber. They have people who sell legal stimulants and intoxicants, such as booze and coffee, and aren’t neutral. There is NOTHING in the law that would force employers to let people smoke pot at work any more than there is a law requiring employers to allow people to come to work drunk.
That’s the big issue, why is pot treated differently from alcohol? Both can be bad for your body, both impair judgment. Both make people high. But one is legal and one isn’t. Why?
Consider this. If it’s legalized, then you put the drug dealers out of that business. People will get controlled pot, which won’t have funky things like PCP in it. They won’t be getting it from someone who will try to get them to use harder stuff. Since it will be legal, they won’t have to deal with criminals and become criminals to get it. So the crime rate goes down and the government can get a lot of revenue by taxing it.
In fact, they should do that with all illegal drugs and put the drug cartels out of business. People could get the drugs from sources that help them get off the drugs rather than people who make money off of them getting more and more hooked.
The tax money could be used to help people get off the drugs and to help people avoid drugs.
Then we would reduce a lot of crimes. Mexico would be safer and it would reduce the immigrant population in this country. We could spend all the money wasted on the drug war on silly things like education and health care. Which would cost less without drug ODs, etc.
For those who insist California has been ruined by liberals, it went into the crapper when they elect republican conservatives governor, starting with Regan. It does better under liberal leadership.
