For the most part if you get caught with a misdemeanor amount of marijuana your vehicle will be towed to the impound yard, if you have a felony amount of marijuana inside your vehicle then yes they can seize your vehicle
This depends on what state you live in and what the arresting police department wants to do as some have seizure laws for almost any crime. You should hire an attorney in your area if they have seized your vehicle as they will be better able to advise you.

In most states anything illegal found inside of your vehicle allows for a bumper to bumper search and seizure of your car.
Most cops wont have it towed unless youre a complete jerk during the process.
