@Pinkcrusader but i would like to hear some of the evidence of things getting better cause so far the research ive done always has negative outcomes.and im one of those people who likes to hear both sides not just one
@Pinkcrusader well the problems i was mainly reffering to is underage drinking, pregnancys(which trust me do play a part),the rehabilitation programs which im sure affect the economy,and the health issues.violence related issues whether family,friend,couple,etc.theres other stuff that ive learned doing research.also mexico already did the legalized drugs(the stores are called tienditas) and things got worse the cartels use them to obtain more money legally and operating centers.
@cooks1234 problems with alcohol have improved recently not gotten worse and it was due to education not criminalization. people respond to educated choices better than force i think.
i dont know people said the same thing about alcohol and things just ended up getting worse not to mention the criminals still exist. they didnt go away
@anonymous1312
Wow that’s alot…sounds about right.
@saquist indeed you are correct. In the UK smokers pay 10 times* more in to our National Health Service than they actually cost, I dare say the same would true of marijuana and there would be an extra benefit in cutting the cost to the public purse of trying to police it. Tada indeed. *based on known revenue generated from tobacco sales verses best guess (often inflated) of smoking related diseases to the NHS – Government’s own figures.
@anonymous1312 That is a bit silly. I mean criminals will figure it out their inventive. Perhaps it will be a good learning experience lol.
I once suggested legalising drugs to the UK Government & pointed out that it would reduce crime but accepted that some criminals will commit crime no matter what – the response was it was a bad idea because the criminals would have to find something else to do. (ok so I’m paraphrasing but I find it amusing that one concern about legalising recreational drug use is “what will the criminals do then, poor things”!
@saquist It gets even more complex when you start talking about what a “moral” gov. would be anyway. It’s so darn subjective in most cases. Humans are so complicated sometimes. But I think most people would tend to agree that when it comes to the gov. telling us what we can do with our own selves they shouldn’t get much if any say. Laws should be about preventing harm we cause to others and helping our society run smoothly. But even that is a fine line to walk.
@Pinkcrusader
The real question is what type of government do you want, A moral Government or a Capitalist Government. That’s the inherit problem. We can’t seem to agree on what’s moral and capitalism dictating right and wrong is a sure path of failure.
That’s why politics is such a tug-of-war. Really we should appreciate it as such but to me it’s just a headache.
@saquist Hey whatever helps right. I’m not for using drugs myself but I don’t think I have the right to dictate what others can do with their selves. I think it will only have a positive effect in the long run. And why should criminals be profiting when there is tax money just waiting to fix roads,parks and medicare.
I’m against drug use especially marijuana and cigarettes, bu
I’m against drug use especially marijuana and cigarettes, but if people want to voluntarily “thin the herd”, then the more jobs for the rest of us. Charge them triple the Health Insurance and double the life insurance and impound vehicles of DUI offenders to auctions and we’ll improve the traffic balance the economy and fix the health care issues.
Tada!
@Pinkcrusader True, I don’t think it’ll happen in my lifetime but anything’s possible:)
@PlasmaDude47 never can tell. I’ll think it will happen eventually. how soon is another story.
You’re right Tim, but I doubt they’ll ever go for it:)
