National Chocolate Day and Halloween, perfect together
The Mayans regarded cocoa pods as symbols of life and fertility and downed spicy cacao drinks as health elixirs. The Aztecs believed this “food of the gods” imparted wisdom and power. Centuries later, many contemporary nutritionists tout dark chocolate’s health benefits for everything from lowering blood pressure and “bad” cholesterol to improving circulation and cognitive function.
