I just moved into my apartment with my husband and 2 daughters and we keep smelling marijuana coming through the vents at different times. It is very strong and doesn’t last very long. Sorry ,but it might not be weed. It could be cigarette smoke. Sometimes it smells like that. But if you really think it is, talk to your neighbours about the problem. If they know your on to them, maybe they will be to scared to smoke it there again.Also tell the landlord.
I would imagine that either the previous occupant smoked pot in the apartment or you have a neighbor that smokes pot. I’m not sure what you mean by ‘this is a serious problem’. A ‘serious’ problem is when a teenage boy is gunned down outside your house. Why don’t you try living in my neighborhood? I think it would give you a whole new appreciation for ‘serious’ problems.

Someone has marijuana near a vent and it’s going through all the venting system. The chances are they are smoking it near a vent so that who ever else lives in that unit doesn’t know.
There useally a fifter behind the vent, if there isn’t you can buy fifters’ they are thin and fit against the vent.Take dryer sheets and put on ea. end or one lg one, put in middle, they are thin enough so air can come through.I find these work also puts a nice scent in the house, do this to all vents.
It could be a neighbor blowing the smoke in the vent so it can’t be smelled in there apartment. IE. A kid so the parents don’t smell, or a parent so the other parent or kids don’t smell. It could also be cigarette smoke (Marlboro lights smell like weed alot) theres not much the manager is going to do if they don’t see someone smoking it. You just can’t go around telling people to stop smoking weed if you don’t know who it is. This would put the innocent people immediately on the defensive and the problems could get much worse.If you know who’s doing it talk to them about it once, if they don’t stop then report it to the manager.

Some one smoking the marijuana in another apartment will cause that.
